Agnes Finnie - The Noble Witch An Edinburgh woman, accused of witchcraft in 1644, Agnes Finnie lived in the tenements of the Potterrow Port where she provided a service to her local community as the shopkeeper, money lender and healer.
A strong woman surviving in a man’s world, Agnes was resilient and didn’t suffer fools gladly. A danger in the eyes of the Kirk and state, she was used as a scapegoat to ease the pressure and tension building in the neighbourhood.
